Doctor Who: Language and Representation blog tasks

  1) Write a summary of the notes from our in-class analysis of the episode. You can use your own notes from the screening in class or  this Google document of class notes  (you'll need your GHS Google login).  Camerawork and sound: Music - theme tune to Doctor Who. Very science-fiction - sets genre from beginning. Medium shot of Doctor holding vase with teachers in background - makes Doctor look evil. Close-ups of Ian and Barbara when they go into the TARDIS to show shock and lack of understanding.   Mise-en-scene: Susan - first introduced dancing and dressed as 1960s teenager (costume). Costume and hair typical of 1960s. Setting - junkyard. Lighting - dark/shadows.   Narrative and genre: Science fiction - “That hasn’t happened yet” - time travel. Propp character types: Doctor presented as villain.   1) How does this  His Dark Materials  trailer meet the conventions of a TV drama series? It captures the essence of the story and its fantastical elements. 2) What genre (or genres) are suggested by this  His Dark Materials  trailer?  His Dark Materials trailer suggests a mix of genres, including fantasy, adventure, and drama 3) What kind of characters and narratives are introduced in this trailer? we are introduced to a diverse range of characters and narratives. We see the young protagonist, Lyra, who embarks on a thrilling adventure across different worlds. There are also other key characters like Lord Asriel, Mrs. Coulter, and the mysterious armoured  bears. 4) What settings appear in the trailer? we get glimpses of various captivating settings.
